CAD Bears Increase Shorts Just Ahead of Rebound
Data in this report cover up to Tuesday, June 25 & were released Friday, June 29.
• This week’s CFTC positioning changes built on last week’s theme of the speculative market holding an aggregate long USD position for the first time in a year but changes through Tuesday were more concentrated. Overall, speculative position takers added USD2.5bn to the aggregate USD long to reach a total bull bet of USD12.5bn.
• Unusually, however, the CAD accounted for the bulk of the position changes, with the data reflecting a significant increase in CAD bearish sentiment. Speculators loaded a net USD1.4bn to USD long/CAD short positioning this week. Gross short CAD positioning accounted for most of the move which came before Gov. Poloz’s speech Wednesday. Unfortunately, we think—once again—the spec market has been caught on the wrong side of the CAD move. Late week price action strongly suggests that a rebound in the CAD may be developing.
• Data reflected a deeper bearish swing in sentiment against the AUD and NZD, consistent with the CAD move, perhaps as a reflection of risk aversion. But investors kept a neutral view of the MXN ahead of the presidential election.
• Elsewhere, investors continued to reduce net long EUR exposure and add to JPY and GBP net shorts—last week’s story played out on a much smaller scale. CHF net shorts continue to build, however, representing the second largest weekly change (USD781mn) and the largest single position in the market overall now (USD4.7bn).

اتفاق غیر منتظره این بود که بخش عمده تغییرات هفتگی در داده ها متعلق به دلار کانادا است و داده ها نشان دهنده افزایش قابل ملاحظه ای در احساسات نزولی CAD می باشند. خالص تغییرات به 1.4 میلیارد دلار رسید. عمده افزایش در معاملات فروش دلار کانادا قبل از سخنرانی پولوز رئیس بانک مرکزی کانادا در روز چهارشنبه رقم خورد. متاسفانه فکر میکنم که اینبار معامله گران در جهت اشتباه قرار گرفتند چرا که با مشاهده نمودار دلار کانادا در برابر دلار آمریکا مشاهده خواهید کرد که دلار کانادا در محدوده زمانی کوچک شروع به تقویت سریع نموده است. دقت داشته باشید که در انتهای روندها اغلب معامله گران و سرمایه گذاران دچار اشتباه می شوند و انتظارات ممکن است در تحلیل شما اثر منفی بگذارد و اینکه علاوه بر معاملات غیرتجاری ها می بایست تجاری ها را مورد بررسی قرار داد.
